Jackie Simon, DVM
Dr. Jackie D. Simon graduated from Mercy High School in St Martinville before attending University of Southwestern Louisiana (now University of Louisiana at Lafayette) where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science in 1983. It was with joyful celebration in 1988 that Dr. Jackie received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Jackie and her husband headed back home where Mark was employed at the USL Cade Farm, and Dr. Jackie began her career at NIRC as the veterinarian for resident non-human primates. In 1990 Country Place Veterinary Clinic was born and has matured gracefully.
Dr. Jackie Simon is a member of several local and national organizations including Acadiana Area Veterinary Association (office of treasurer), Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, St. Martinville Chamber of Commerce, and Louisiana State Animal Rescue Team (LSART). Over the years, Dr. Jackie Simon has been a member of St. Martinville Kiwanis Club from 1990-1993, served on Lafayette Parish Animal Control Board for 8 years, supporting member of St. Martin Humane Society at its inception, and served on the Board of Trustees for Walter J. Earnest Foundation for 8 years.
Several awards and honors hang on the wall at Country Place Veterinary Clinic including the Good Neighbor Award from the BBB, Customer Commitment Award Runner-up from the BBB, and Louisiana 4-H Hall of Fame.
Dr. Jackie is the daughter of Suzanne B. Durand and the late Clifford Durand. She is married to Mark Simon, and has three children including Kris and Brittanie Simon with their son, Henri. Karl and Stephanie Simon with their daughter, Edith. Dr. Megan Simon, associate veterinarian at Country Place Veterinary Clinic. On the homestead, she has dogs, cats, miniature cattle, a cow calf operation, a milking Guernsey, chickens, honey bees, gardening, a sugarcane syrup mill, and pecan trees. There are lots of things to keep her busy!
